Time to Pretend (live) by Jónsi
originally by MGMT(via coketalk)
It’s amazing how easy it is pretend (sorry…) that the lyrical content of this track isn’t pessimistic and depressing when listening to MGMT’s original. But with this somber piano version and Jónsi’s vocal stylings… man does this hit you as a big downer — but a beautiful one. I’m sure we’ll hear this at the end of a really dramatic episode of ‘House’ or ‘Gossip Girl’ or something. — Andy

Separately liked this song on Hype Machine and gave it 5 stars on iTunes from a podcast. That must mean I like it.

Washed Out - “Get Up”
With Fall officially here and the daily highs down into the 70s for the first time in months, it’s about time for me to start transitioning away my summer jams in favor of slower, folkier, more autumnal tunes.
Although musically similar to Neon Indian or Cut/Copy, Washed Out’s first EP, Life of Leisure, has a good nighttime vibe that both recalls Summer while hinting at Fall, making it a perfect transitional album. “Get Up” is the lead off track and feels more like summer than most of the album. The song’s funky, shifting, out-of-sync synths may be trippy or off-putting at first, but I quickly found they kept me coming back to the song just so I could hear them again.

Swim by Surfer Blood (album: Astro Coast)
I don’t generally like posting singles as I expect people have heard them. However, this is a great song so deal with it! Regardless, I’m really loving this album. I just wish weather would get nicer. This album begs to have the windows and sunroof open while driving around. For you Dallas-ites, beware the ides of March (March 15th) because these guys are going to be at the Granada. Perhaps I’ll see you there.
